Ken began South Waikato Garage Doors in the 70's, basing it in Matamata and serving the Matamata/Piako, South Waikato region.

Gary is a fitter welder by trade and has spent 23 years in the heavy machinery industry. Prior to taking over SWGD in 2005, he was Service Manager at Plywood & Kinleith Mills.
Gary worked on and off with his father, Ken Searl, during his early years and during times when Ken was unwell and unable to run the business himself.
The experience gained has been invaluable. It gave him the opportunity to grow as a person and to meet the fantastic network of people who come together to create and install high quality garage doors. This, coupled with his passion for excellence and professionalism, gives him the drive to provide only the best possible service to his customers and clients. He is a keen outdoors man, loves hunting and fishing, is a Sea Scout Leader and is a warranted boat master.
Barbara’s background is in retail, customer liaison and credit control. Currently she is the part-time office administrator for the company while also working part-time as a teacher's aide at the Cargill School, and works part time at Tokoroa Club. Her past and present roles see her out in the community building a wide and varied network of friends and colleagues.
Her interests are reading, working with children, dancing and socialising professionally and personally. She was a leader for the local Sea Scout Group for 11 years before resigning in May 2012
Gary and Barbara Searl have three children and currently live in Tokoroa.
Richard has been in the company since leaving school and undertaking his training with Gary. He is punctual, polite and trustworthy, has a great work ethic, is fantastic with the customers and he has an extensive product knowledge, knows there faults and how to repair them.
Lance has been with the company since May 2008. He is mechanically minded, is able to troubleshoot and has a great aptitude for this industry. His knowledge has grown over the years, he knows his products. Like Richard his extensive knowledge of our products is your peace of mind.
